Through three quarters of Thursday’s critical boys’ lacrosse matchup with Washington-Lee, Edison dominated the faceoff circle, controlled possession and outshot its opponent. But heading into the final frame with second place in the AAA National District on the line, the Eagles found themselves in a 5-5 tie.
Last year, Edison might have buckled under the pressure and frustration of a ragged, back-and-forth contest, but this Edison team is out to prove it is different — and the Eagles did just that. With three goals in six minutes from freshman Daniel Riley, Edison rattled off six in a row to pull away from its hosts and capture an 11-6 win to extend one of the best starts in program history.
