Loudoun Valley coach Jay Harkey feels his team is better prepared heading into this year?s state tournament ?than any other year.? The Vikings secured a home game in the state quarterfinals with a 16-12 victory over Battlefield in the AAA Northwest Region girls? lacrosse championship game May 28 in Purcellville. ?We?ve played teams that are top contenders in the state and in the nation,? said Harkey, whose Vikings improved to 16-2 this season with only one-goal blemishes against elite private schools St. Stephen?s & St. Agnes and Bishop Ireton. ?We?ve been down seven times this season and come back and been able to be successful. I?m pretty proud of that.? The Vikings also showed their ability to overcome adversity in Friday?s region title game.
