The past is inescapable for the Langley High School boys' lacrosse team, even if its focus on the upcoming regular season is to forget they've won back-to-back Virginia State High School League state championships.
On the way to the locker room, there's a photo of Coach Earl Brewer sitting atop his players' shoulders after the finals victory in 2009. There are trophies of the Saxons' recent region and district conquests. And former players can be spotted walking toward Brewer's office to reminisce over the teams' past glory.
But the past is the past, even if the memories are sweet.
